ASA Challenge Courses
Captain James Cook wasn't ASA certified. If you learned to sail another way but want to join the ASA ohana, we would love to welcome you aboard. Experienced sailors often want ASA credentials for the purpose of chartering a yacht. ASA allows experienced sailors to challenge the ASA standards in some cases with an interview with your local ASA school, describing your sailing experience and by taking the appropriate ASA written exam. You can demonstrate the skills for that level while taking the next level course. There is an administrative fee for the exam but is significantly less than the full course price and you're sure to learn something and have fun while taking the next level course.
Combination Courses
A popular challenge option is a combination ASA 101 + ASA 103 combination course. This is a good option for people who have been sailing quite a bit as crew and already know port from starboard, want to reinforce what they already know and are looking for an accelerated beginner/ intermediate course. If you see ASA 101 scheduled on a Friday with ASA 103 scheduled the following Saturday we can do a 3 day ASA 101 + 103 combination course for a special discounted rate. Please contact us to discuss if this is a good option for you.
