ASA 107 Celestial Navigation
Without GPS, the only way to navigate away from shore is by the stars. In this advanced marine navigation course you will learn the traditional western way of finding your way at sea by identifying and using celestial bodies (sun, moon and stars) to fix your position with a sextant and nautical reference publications (Nautical Almanac and H.O. 229 sight reduction tables). This course meets for 4 evenings, 3 hours each session and requires some self study. Taught by former US Naval officer and certified ASA Celestial Navigation instructor. No pre-requisites for this course, this course is the pre-requisite for ASA 108 Offshore Passage Making.
