Pacific Offshore Challenge

Cruise and learn adventure for the ultimate sailing experience in Hawaii. The Pacific Offshore Challenge is a one week live aboard sailing program for individuals seeking intermediate to advanced level sailing instruction during a challenging and unforgettable adventure around the Hawaiian islands.

Program includes:

* 1 week accommodations aboard a cruising yacht, which includes either a single bunk or private double cabin for couples. Shared head (toilet/shower) and galley facilities. Provisions (food) are shared, with fishing gear, meal preparation supplies and linens provided.

* Sailing instruction (intermediate to advanced) provided by an experienced USCG licensed Captain and American Sailing Association (ASA) certified sailing instructor. This one week "cruise and learn" program may cover all ASA standards from 103 through 106. ASA certification is optional, for additional fee:

     - It is highly recommended that participants have already taken ASA 101 or equivalent. *
     - ASA instruction (practice & written exam + $100 certification fee, booked separately)
     - ASA textbooks are available to borrow or may be purchased from our online store or direct from ASA.

* What to expect: You will join up to 3 other people plus Captain/instructor (max total 5 onboard) and live aboard a 35 ft sailboat for one week. Accommodations are tight but comfortable. You and the other crew will plan all aspects of the voyage together with the Captain. The experience includes: planning a route on the chart in consideration of the weather, taking turns at the helm, trimming sails and navigating the boat to your chosen destinations. You may have fair weather for the week or may encounter weather conditions that will challenge you to your limits. Your Captain will do everything to ensure your safety on this unforgettable experience. You may be rewarded for the challenge with beautiful sunsets & sunrises at sea, star filled open ocean skies, dolphins and whales, catching/ preparing and enjoying fresh fish, swimming/ snorkeling in private anchorages and learning about and gaining practical experience living aboard a classic yacht in one of the most special places on Earth. The destinations we visit may also offer fun opportunities for land excursions, far away beaches and possible night life in some locations.

* Please note: Sailors may challenge ASA standards by presenting equivalent qualifications (US Sailing, RYA, USNSA, etc.) or describing their experience, taking the ASA written exam(s) and taking the next level ASA course. For beginners it is highly recommended to gain sea time between courses and consider taking our full length ASA Basic Keelboat 101 course prior to the Pacific Offshore Challenge, which is generally scheduled the weekend prior.
